Quick answer

TallyoCloud runs your licensed TallyPrime on a private Windows server in India that you open from a Mac, PC, phone or tablet. You keep your own licence, and remote sessions count as Tally Virtual Users. A private server costs ₹799 per user a month plus GST, billed monthly with a GST invoice. You can cancel any time and take a full copy of your data.

What is Tally on Cloud?

Your licensed TallyPrime runs on a Windows server in a data centre instead of on your office PC. You open it over Remote Desktop from a Mac, Windows PC, phone or tablet, with the same shortcuts, reports and GST features, and everyone works on one live company file.

What Tally on Cloud means, with its limits

How do I get started, and how long does setup take?

Choose a plan or start the free trial and complete a short verified sign-up. Your server is usually ready within one business day. You upload a backup of your companies, we restore and check them, and on go-live day you reactivate your licence yourself while we guide you on a screen-share.

How Tally on Cloud works, step by step

Can I try it before I pay?

Yes. The free 7-day trial runs on a private server in India with TallyPrime 7.1 and a copy of your own books, using Tally's free trial licence in your company's name. No card is needed, and nothing is charged when the trial ends.

Start the free trial

What do I need to install on my device?

Only a free Remote Desktop app. Windows PCs already have Remote Desktop Connection built in. Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android and Chromebook use Microsoft's free Windows App, and Linux uses an RDP client such as Remmina. TallyPrime itself stays on the server.

How TallyPrime runs over Remote Desktop

Can you move my existing Tally data?

Yes. You back up your companies in TallyPrime with Alt+Y and upload the file over our encrypted link. We restore every company, load your TDLs and match trial balances with you before go-live. Tally.ERP 9 data is upgraded to TallyPrime format on the server.

How is this different from TallyPrime Cloud Access?

TallyPrime Cloud Access is Tally Solutions' own hosted service, from ₹600 per user a month plus GST. Its FAQ says Mac users connect through a browser and phones and tablets are not supported. We run your TallyPrime on a Windows server that you open with Windows App on any of your devices.

Licences and Tally Virtual Users

Your TallyPrime licence stays yours. On a cloud server, Tally counts remote sessions as Tally Virtual Users (TVU), so the licence you hold decides how many people can work at once.

Tally Virtual Users explained

Can I use my existing TallyPrime licence?

Yes. Tally's TVU FAQ says customers may host TallyPrime on a cloud for their own business. On go-live day you reactivate your Silver or Gold licence on your server while we guide you. You type your Tally.NET details yourself; we never ask for them.

How the licence move works

What is a Tally Virtual User, and how many do I get?

Tally counts every TallyPrime instance opened over Remote Desktop or cloud as one Tally Virtual User. Silver includes 1 and Gold includes 10 concurrent TVUs. Gold owners can buy more from Tally at about ₹125 per user a month plus tax, billed annually.

TVU limits, errors and pricing

Is the TallyPrime licence included in your price?

No, our plans cover hosting only. Tally's list prices are Silver ₹22,500 and Gold ₹67,500 one-time, or rental at ₹750 and ₹2,250 a month, all plus 18% GST. Rental plans include TSS while they are active.

Can a CA firm run all its clients on one licence?

Not for clients who log in themselves. Tally says Remote Desktop users of the same company are fine, but users from different companies on one licence is a violation. Your own staff can work on client companies under your licence; each client business whose people log in needs its own licence and server.

Do I need an active TSS on the cloud?

TallyPrime keeps working without it, but Tally's TSS FAQ says that without it you lose software upgrades, statutory updates, Tally's remote access and connected services such as e-invoicing and e-way bills. Tally Virtual Users don't depend on TSS, so remote sessions still open. Most businesses keep TSS active so GST features stay current on the server.

What works on Tally on Cloud

Devices and printing

TallyPrime installs only on Windows, so every other device connects to your Windows server. Here is what each one needs, and how printing works on each.

Printing guide by device

Can I use TallyPrime on a Mac?

Yes, through the cloud. Tally's system requirements say TallyPrime installs only on Windows, so your Mac runs Microsoft's free Windows App (macOS 14 or later) and shows TallyPrime from your server. It works the same on Apple silicon and Intel Macs, with no Parallels or Windows licence.

Does it work on iPhone, iPad and Android?

Yes. Install Windows App from the App Store or Google Play and sign in with the details we send. A phone suits quick lookups and approvals. For longer data entry, use a tablet with a keyboard, which passes Ctrl and Alt shortcuts through to TallyPrime.

What about Linux and Chromebook?

Linux users connect with Remmina, the remote desktop client that ships with Ubuntu, or another RDP client. Chromebooks that run Play Store apps use Windows App from Google Play. Either way, TallyPrime runs on the Windows server, not under Wine.

Can I print invoices on my own printer?

On Windows and Mac, yes. Remote Desktop redirects your local printers into the session, and a Mac prints through a generic driver. Microsoft's Windows App feature table shows no printer redirection on iPhone, iPad or Android, so export a PDF there and print or share it from your device.

How to print from Tally on Cloud

Can I use my DSC token for GST or income-tax signing?

From a Windows PC or Mac, usually. Microsoft's feature table lists smart-card redirection for Windows and macOS, which is how most USB signing tokens reach the session, with the token's driver installed on the server too. Tokens differ, so test yours during the free trial. iPhone, iPad and Android can't pass a DSC token through, so sign from a computer.

Do Tally's shortcut keys work on a Mac or iPad keyboard?

Yes. Ctrl and Alt combinations pass through to TallyPrime; on a Mac, use Control for Ctrl and Option for Alt, and turn on standard function keys in macOS so F-keys reach Tally. On a keyboard without an F-key row, tap TallyPrime's right-hand button bar instead.

How fast does my internet need to be?

Not very. Remote Desktop sends screen updates and keystrokes, not your company data. Microsoft's RDP bandwidth guide puts active spreadsheet work at about 150–200 Kbps and an idle session at well under 1 Kbps; printing a long report briefly uses more. A steady connection matters more than headline speed, and nothing works offline.

Security and backups

Where your books are kept, who can see them, how backups work and how to take your own copy whenever you like.

Every security control explained

Where is my Tally data stored?

On a private Windows server for your business in a data centre in Mumbai, India, with backup copies kept in a separate location that is also in India. Your data does not leave the country, and we name the facility in your quote.

Data location and security

How do you protect sign-ins and the server?

Each business gets its own private server, with no Remote Desktop port left open to the internet, two-factor login and encrypted backups that include a separate locked copy. Inside TallyPrime, every user keeps their own login and security level.

How we secure your server

How often are backups taken, and how long are they kept?

Daily automated backups are stored off the server with 30-day retention, so a company can be restored to an earlier day. You can also take your own backup at any time from TallyPrime with Alt+Y and save it straight to your computer.

Backups and restores

Can your staff see my accounts?

Only when you ask for help. An engineer opens your server for a specific request you approve, and admin sessions are logged. For extra privacy, TallyPrime's TallyVault encrypts a company with a password only you know, but a lost TallyVault password cannot be recovered.

Staff access and privacy

Does a cloud server help with the daily-backup rules for books?

For companies, yes. Rule 3(5) of the Companies (Accounts) Rules, 2014, as amended in 2022 (G.S.R. 624(E)), requires a daily backup of electronic books on servers in India. Daily automated backups stay on Indian servers, and company customers get a signed provider-details letter for the annual filing. Income-tax Rule 46(8) is often described as a similar rule for every business, but published sources disagree about it, so check with your CA.

Billing, GST, auto-renewal and cancellation

How you pay, what the invoice shows, how renewals and plan changes work, and how to leave. Plan prices are on the pricing page; the exact refund rules are in our policy.

Plans and prices with GST

Can I switch plans or add users mid-month?

Yes. A new user is active as soon as we create the login and is charged pro rata for the rest of your current billing period, while removing a user takes effect from the next cycle. Moving to a larger server, for example a dedicated one when you pass 25 users, is scheduled with you, usually outside working hours, so your team loses no time on the switch.

How do I pay, and do you send GST invoices?

Pay monthly by UPI, debit or credit card, net banking, or NEFT/RTGS bank transfer. Every payment comes with a GST invoice showing our GSTIN, and yours if you share it. Hosting is generally billed under SAC 998315, so GST-registered businesses can usually claim input tax credit, subject to the normal GST conditions. Your CA can confirm this for your business.

Do your prices include GST, and is there a yearly discount?

Our prices are shown before 18% GST, which is added on the invoice: ₹799 per user a month, so 3 users pay ₹2,397 plus GST. Billing is monthly at the same rate for any team size, and there is no yearly price or yearly discount. Your TallyPrime licence, TSS and any Tally Virtual User packs are sold and invoiced by Tally Solutions or a Tally partner, not by us.

See every plan with GST shown

How do auto-renewals work?

Auto-pay is optional. If you choose it, you approve an e-mandate once, with an extra authentication step. Under RBI's e-mandate rules you get a pre-debit notice at least 24 hours before each charge, and any single charge above ₹15,000 needs your fresh approval. You can stop auto-pay at any time with a WhatsApp message to us, or withdraw the mandate yourself in your card issuer's or UPI app.

Does the free trial turn into a paid plan automatically?

No. The 7-day trial needs no card, so there is nothing to charge when it ends. We remind you before it finishes and you decide whether to continue. If you subscribe, the trial server carries on and we restore your latest books on go-live day. If you don't, the server is switched off and the trial copy is deleted after a short download window.

How the free trial works

Do you charge setup or migration fees?

Not for standard work. Server setup and assisted migration of your TallyPrime or Tally.ERP 9 companies are included in every plan, along with loading your TDL files. We quote separately only for unusual jobs, such as extensive testing of custom TDLs or moving hundreds of client companies for a CA firm, and always in writing before we start.

Can I cancel, and how do refunds work?

Yes, you can cancel at any time with a WhatsApp message or an e-mail, with no form, phone call or reason needed. Billing is monthly, so your plan runs to the end of the month you have paid for, and our refund and cancellation policy sets out how any refund is worked out. Either way, you get a full copy of your data first.

Refund and cancellation policy

Who refunds TallyPrime licence, TSS or TVU fees?

Tally Solutions, or the Tally partner you bought from, under their own policies. Licences, rentals, TSS renewals and Tally Virtual User packs are sold and invoiced by them, so our refund policy covers only TallyoCloud hosting fees. Your licence stays registered to your business either way: when you leave, you surrender it from our server and reactivate it on your own PC.
