TallyPrime Cloud Access vs Windows-based Tally on Cloud: a fair comparison

TallyPrime Cloud Access vs Tally on Cloud is a choice between two legitimate setups. Tally Solutions hosts TallyPrime itself through Cloud Access; independent hosts such as TallyoCloud run your licensed TallyPrime on a Windows server. Both are sound ways to put your books on the cloud. They differ on price, devices, printing and add-ons, and every claim we make about Tally's service links to Tally's own pages.

Quick answer

TallyPrime Cloud Access vs Tally on Cloud comes down to price versus reach. Tally's own service costs from ₹600 per user per month plus GST and works from Windows, Linux or a Mac browser, but not phones or tablets. A Windows RDP host such as TallyoCloud usually costs more, and adds iPhone, iPad and Android access, Mac printing and Windows add-ons.

Quick verdict

Who should pick which, in one minute

Neither option is the wrong answer. They are built for different offices, and the right one depends on the devices your team uses and the extras your Tally setup relies on.

Pick TallyPrime Cloud Access if…

  • Everyone works on a desktop. Windows PCs use Tally's client, Tally lists Linux access too, and a browser is enough for your Mac users.
  • Price matters most. It starts at ₹600 per user per month plus GST and drops to ₹450 on 4 to 16-user packs.
  • You want one vendor. Tally runs the servers, backups and Secure PIN login, and your Tally partner handles support.
  • Your customisations are plain TDL or TCP files, with no add-ons that ship as .exe or .dll programs.
  • PDF printing is fine from a browser, or you print from Tally's Windows client.

Pick Windows RDP hosting if…

  • Someone needs Tally on a phone or tablet, whether that is an iPhone, an iPad or an Android device.
  • Mac users print invoices on their own printer rather than through a downloaded PDF.
  • You rely on a third-party add-on, bank file tool or utility that installs as an .exe or .dll.
  • You need Microsoft Office in the session, or a dedicated server for 10 or more users.
  • You want hands-on onboarding: data moved for you and the licence moved with you on a screen-share, plus a stated data-centre city and uptime target.

Disclosure: TallyoCloud sells Windows RDP hosting, so we compete with TallyPrime Cloud Access. TallyoCloud is an independent host and does not claim Tally partnership. To keep this page fair, every fact about Tally's service links to Tally's own product page or FAQ with the date we checked it, and we spell out where Tally's service is the better buy. How we research and correct pages is set out in our editorial policy.

The basics

What is TallyPrime Cloud Access?

It is Tally Solutions' own hosted TallyPrime. Tally's product page describes it as hosted on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). It launched as TallyPrime on AWS, and Oracle announced the move to OCI on 9 February 2026.

Each pack gives your business a virtual computer with TallyPrime preinstalled. People sign in with a Tally.NET ID plus a Secure PIN, then work through Tally's virtual client on Windows or in a browser. Tally's product page also lists Linux access, and Mac users log in through Chrome or Safari. Under the hood, Tally's Cloud Access FAQ says the virtual computer runs a Linux-based operating system, with TallyPrime on a WINE compatibility layer, the open-source layer that lets Windows programs run on Linux.

You buy it through a Tally partner, who becomes your single point of contact, on 3, 6 or 12-month terms that auto-renew until cancelled. The TallyPrime licence is separate: Tally's buying guide asks for your existing serial number, and you reactivate that licence inside the virtual computer. It is a different thing from a Windows RDP host, which is what most people mean by Tally on Cloud.

  • 5 users: Gold, ₹67,500 once or ₹2,250 a month on rental, includes ten concurrent virtual users.
  • 12 users: Gold plus two extra virtual-user packs at ₹125 per user per month, billed annually by Tally.

All ex-GST, from Tally's customer hub and TVU FAQ (29 Mar 2026), which counts access "over RDP, Cloud, Citrix" as virtual usage. Confirm your own count with a Tally partner, and see our Tally Virtual User guide.

What the price gap pays for

At list prices, TallyPrime Cloud Access is the smaller bill at every team size above. The difference buys a private Windows Server for your company, iPhone, iPad and Android access, local printing from a Mac, room for .exe and .dll add-ons, and hands-on migration.

If none of those matter to your team, Tally's own service is the better value, and we would rather you knew that before you sign up anywhere.

Credit where due

Where TallyPrime Cloud Access is the better choice

Tally's service is well suited to desktop-only teams that value price and simplicity. These are its real strengths, taken from Tally's own pages.

The lowest listed price

₹600 per user per month falls to ₹450 on packs of 4 to 16 users. For a team that never opens Tally on a phone, that is hard to beat, and the price comes straight from Tally.

Windows, Linux and a Mac browser

Tally's virtual client installs on Windows, Tally lists Linux access too, and Macs connect through Chrome or Safari with nothing to install. On a Windows PC, the client detects local printers automatically.

One vendor, one partner

Tally builds the software and supplies the virtual computer, and the Tally partner who sold you the licence sells and supports the hosting as your single point of contact.

Tally-run backups and Secure PIN

Backups run each day when the virtual computer first starts, as password-protected files you can also trigger by hand. Every login needs a Tally.NET ID plus a Secure PIN.

Free ODBC sync for one user

Sync with Local Applications lets one user connect programs on their own computer to TallyPrime over ODBC at no extra cost, which is handy for MIS sheets that pull live figures.

TallyPrime Server, preinstalled

Larger teams of 8 to 128 users can take a Server Pack with TallyPrime Server already installed, at ₹750 per user per month plus GST, with no server for you to build.

Windows hosting

Where Windows RDP hosting is the better choice

A Windows server behaves like the office PC TallyPrime was designed for, so the things Tally's FAQ rules out on Cloud Access generally work. You usually pay more for that reach.

Printing differs by device on every Remote Desktop setup, so read our guide to printing from Tally on Cloud before you buy, and see how we protect the server on the security page.

Moving over

Switching between them, in either direction

Your data is ordinary TallyPrime data and your licence belongs to your business, so moving is mostly about timing. The one trap is the backup window after a subscription ends.

Back up while you're still active

Take a full company backup in TallyPrime (Alt+Y, then Backup) or download the latest one. On Cloud Access, backups arrive as password-protected zip files from the Self Service Portal, so keep the password.

Release the licence

Surrender or deactivate the TallyPrime licence on the old virtual computer or server, so it can be activated on the new one. In both setups, one licence runs on one machine.

Restore and reactivate

Restore the backup on the new server and reactivate the licence there. With TallyoCloud, we do this with you over a screen-share during setup and check every company opens.

Test, then cancel

Check printing, add-ons and each user's login before you cancel. Cloud Access auto-renews until cancelled, so time the move near the end of your 3, 6 or 12-month term.

Mind the backup window. Tally's backup help page (29 Sep 2026) says backups stay downloadable for 7 days after a subscription expires, or up to 30 days if the virtual computer is deprovisioned early. The FAQ says backup files are retained for 30 days from deactivation. The two pages disagree, so plan around the shorter figure.

Leaving us works the same way. Your companies stay in standard TallyPrime format and your licence stays in your business's name, so you can move to Tally's service, another host or an office PC whenever you choose. The full checklist, including Tally.ERP 9 data, is in our Tally data migration guide.

FAQ

TallyPrime Cloud Access questions, answered

What is TallyPrime Cloud Access?

It is Tally Solutions' own hosted service, launched as TallyPrime on AWS and now run on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Each pack gives your business a virtual computer with TallyPrime preinstalled. Tally lists access from Windows and Linux, with its client installing on Windows, and Mac users log in through a browser. It costs from ₹600 per user per month plus GST on 3, 6 or 12-month terms, and the TallyPrime licence is bought separately.

What does TallyPrime Cloud Access do well?

It is the lowest-priced way to have TallyPrime hosted by Tally itself, sold and supported through your Tally partner. Tally's pages list dual-factor login with a Tally.NET ID and Secure PIN, automatic daily backups in password-protected files, unlimited 24×7 use, free Sync with Local Applications for one user's ODBC tools, and automatic detection of printers attached to a Windows PC running its client.

Can I print to my own printer from TallyPrime Cloud Access?

From Tally's Windows client, yes: it detects the printers connected to your computer. In a web browser, which is how Mac users connect, Tally's FAQ says you can print only in PDF format, so you download the PDF and print it locally. On a Windows RDP host, Microsoft's Windows App passes a Mac's printers into the session through a generic driver.

Which is cheaper, TallyPrime Cloud Access or a Windows RDP host?

TallyPrime Cloud Access is. It costs ₹600 per user per month plus GST for one or two users and ₹450 on larger packs, while we charge a flat ₹799 per user per month plus GST. Both need the same TallyPrime licence and follow the same Tally Virtual User rules, so weigh the gap against phones and tablets, Mac printing, add-ons and a dedicated server.

Is TallyPrime Cloud Access the same as TallyPrime on AWS?

Yes. It is the same Tally service under a newer name. It launched as TallyPrime on AWS, and Tally has since moved it to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, which Oracle announced in February 2026. Tally's product page now describes it as hosted on OCI. The separate-licence rule, the virtual-computer model and the 3, 6 or 12-month terms carry over.

How do I switch from TallyPrime Cloud Access to another host, or back?

Take a full TallyPrime backup while your subscription is still active, because Tally's pages allow only 7 days, or 30 days from deactivation, to download backups after it ends. Release the licence on the old virtual computer, restore the backup on the new server and reactivate the licence there. Moving the other way works the same, since your data stays in standard TallyPrime format.

TallyPrime Cloud Access kya hai?

TallyPrime Cloud Access Tally Solutions ki apni cloud service hai. Isme aapka TallyPrime Oracle Cloud ke ek virtual computer par chalta hai. Windows par Tally ka client ya browser chalta hai, aur Mac par sirf browser. Price ₹600 per user per month plus GST se shuru hota hai, aur TallyPrime licence alag se lena padta hai. Mobile aur tablet abhi supported nahi hain.
