Tally on AWS: what changed, and your hosting options
Tally's own "TallyPrime on AWS" service now runs on Oracle Cloud under a new name. You can still put TallyPrime on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud yourself, or let a managed host run the server. Here is what each route costs, who does the work, and where the Microsoft and Tally licensing traps are.

Quick answer
Tally on AWS has changed. Tally's own "TallyPrime on AWS" service is now TallyPrime Cloud Access, moved to Oracle Cloud in February 2026, from ₹600 per user per month plus GST. You can still run your licensed TallyPrime on your own AWS, Azure or Google server, managing Windows and Remote Desktop licences yourself, or use a managed Windows host.
The back story
What happened to TallyPrime on AWS
Until early 2026, Tally Solutions sold a hosted service called TallyPrime on AWS: a virtual computer with TallyPrime preinstalled, running on Amazon Web Services. The service still exists. The cloud underneath it and the name on the box have changed.
TallyPrime powered by AWS
Tally's hosted packs ran on Amazon Web Services. Tally community posts from November 2024 still use the AWS name, which is why so many search results do too.
Moved to Oracle Cloud
On 9 February 2026, Oracle announced that Tally had moved the service to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
Renamed TallyPrime Cloud Access
Tally's product page now describes it as hosted on OCI. The model carries over: one virtual computer per pack, licence bought separately.
The old pages redirect
On 6 October 2026, both of Tally's old "TallyPrime on AWS" addresses returned a permanent (301) redirect to the Cloud Access page.
So what does "Tally on AWS" mean today? One of two things. Either it's Tally's own service under its old name, which is how some partner price lists still show the Personal, Regular and Regular Plus packs, or it's TallyPrime on a Windows server that you rent from AWS yourself. This page compares both with a third route: a managed Windows host. If the term Tally on Cloud is new to you, start there.

DIY: TallyPrime on your own AWS, Azure or Google Cloud server
Tally allows it. Its licensing best practices (updated 11 June 2026) say you can "host your own license on a cloud platform like AWS, Azure" or a private cloud, for your own business use. Hosting one licence and giving your own branches access is fine; sharing it with another business or client is misuse.
TallyPrime installs only on Windows, so whichever cloud you pick, you rent a Windows Server virtual machine, install TallyPrime on it and reach it over Remote Desktop. Nothing about TallyPrime is AWS-specific. TallyPrime on Azure and Tally on Google Cloud follow exactly the same steps; only the console and the bill look different.
Pick an Indian region. Tally says a licence must be used mainly, at least 75 percent, in the geography it was bought for, and a server close to your users keeps typing responsive. All three big clouds now have more than one Indian region:

A typical self-managed setup, not an official AWS checklist. Mac printers reach the session through a generic driver, and phones and tablets don't redirect printers at all, per Microsoft. Our Tally RDP guide covers the client side in detail.
None of these jobs is hard for a Windows administrator. The real question is whose time they use, every month, for as long as your books live there. The admin-hours slider in the cost and effort table puts a rupee figure on it.
Licensing
Microsoft licensing on AWS and Azure: the part DIY guides skip
A Windows instance on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud includes the Windows Server licence in its hourly price. That covers the server, not the people using it. Microsoft requires a Remote Desktop Services licence for each user or device that connects to a Remote Desktop session host, and the 120-day grace period after setup is a technical allowance, not a licence.
On AWS, the usual way to buy those licences for your own business is License Manager user-based subscriptions. AWS's documentation sets out the practical details:
Per user, per month, no proration. The Remote Desktop Services SAL subscription is billed for each user, and part months are not prorated.
A directory is mandatory. Users come from AWS Managed Microsoft AD or your own Active Directory, and instances must be domain-joined and managed by AWS Systems Manager.
Two sessions by default. More than two active users needs a Group Policy change and the Per User licensing mode.
Leavers keep costing money. Billing runs until the user's licence token expires 60 days after issue, unless you remove them from the directory first.
Then there is Tally's own layer. Every TallyPrime window opened over Remote Desktop uses a Tally Virtual User (TVU): Silver includes 1 and Gold includes 10, and Gold owners can buy more at ₹125 per user per month, billed annually, according to Tally's TVU FAQ. The same FAQ says the licence and the data must sit on the same virtual machine. Our TVU guide works through examples.

If an IT firm hosts Tally for you on AWS or Azure, ask how its users are licensed. Since 1 October 2025, service providers reportedly can no longer use their own SPLA licences on Microsoft's "Listed Providers": AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and Alibaba (Octopus Cloud, Jan 2026). Licence-included options from the cloud remain. Treat this as reported and confirm it with a Microsoft licensing reseller. Our provider checklist lists the other questions to ask.
Tally's own service
TallyPrime Cloud Access on Oracle: prices, devices and limits
This is the service that used to be TallyPrime on AWS, so it's the honest answer to "Tally AWS price per month". You buy it through a Tally partner on 3, 6 or 12-month terms that auto-renew, and you bring or buy the TallyPrime licence separately. What Tally's Cloud Access FAQ (updated 29 September 2026) and product page say:
Windows and Linux clients; Mac users sign in through Chrome or Safari.
Two-factor login with a Tally.NET ID and Secure PIN, and automatic daily backups.
Free ODBC sync with apps on one user's own computer.
No iPhone, iPad or Android. Mobile and tablet devices are not supported, in the client or a browser.
Not Windows underneath. TallyPrime runs on a Linux virtual computer through the WINE compatibility layer.
PDF-only printing in a browser, no .exe or .dll add-ons, and LibreOffice instead of Microsoft Office.
No uptime commitment or data-centre region is named on the product page or in the FAQ.

Managed host in India
A managed Windows host in an Indian data centre
The third route keeps the Windows server and hands the runbook to someone else. With TallyoCloud, each company gets a private Windows Server VM in Mumbai, with its own TallyPrime licence and data on it, as Tally's rules require.
Daily automated backups with 30-day retention, stored away from your server and inside India. Company customers get a provider-details letter and a backup log.
What you give up. Compared with DIY, you don't control the cloud account, so you can't add your own AWS or Azure services next to TallyPrime. Compared with Tally's Cloud Access, you pay more per user. Disclosure: TallyoCloud sells managed hosting and is an independent host, not Tally Solutions. Every claim about AWS, Microsoft and Tally on this page links to their own pages, as our editorial policy requires. Full plans are on the pricing page.

Where the server sits
Latency, data residency and the companies rule
Remote Desktop sends screen updates and keystrokes, not your company files. Microsoft's RDP bandwidth guidance puts active office-style work at roughly 150 to 200 Kbps in the default mode, and an idle session uses almost nothing. Bandwidth is rarely the problem. Distance is: a server in Singapore or the US adds a round trip to every keystroke, so keep TallyPrime in an Indian region whichever cloud you use. Our internet speed guide goes further.
Residency matters for compliance too. If your business is a company, the Companies (Accounts) Rules, as amended in August 2022, require a daily backup of books kept electronically on servers physically located in India, and a yearly note to the Registrar of the service provider's name, IP address and location.
Keep it in India, on any cloud
AWS: run in Mumbai or Hyderabad and keep snapshots and backup copies there. A Mumbai-to-Hyderabad copy keeps disaster recovery inside India.
Azure and Google Cloud: the same rule. Check where any backup vault or replica lands before you switch it on.
Tally's licence: at least 75 percent of use belongs in the geography the licence was bought for.
TallyPrime Cloud Access: Tally's pages don't name a region, so ask your partner in writing if you need it for your filings.
TallyoCloud: servers and backups in India, with a provider-details letter for company customers.

FAQ
Tally on AWS questions, answered
Is TallyPrime on AWS still available?
Not under that name. Tally's former 'TallyPrime on AWS' service is now TallyPrime Cloud Access, and Oracle announced on 9 February 2026 that Tally had moved it to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure. Tally's old AWS pages now redirect permanently to the Cloud Access page, which we confirmed on 6 October 2026. Partner price lists that still say 'Tally on AWS' usually show the same Cloud Access packs under the old name.
How much does Tally on AWS cost per month?
Tally's own service, formerly TallyPrime on AWS, costs ₹600 per user per month for one or two users and ₹450 per user on 4 to 16-user packs, plus 18% GST, on 3, 6 or 12-month terms. TallyPrime on your own AWS server has no fixed price: you pay for the Windows instance, storage, backups and a monthly Remote Desktop licence for each user. Your TallyPrime licence is extra either way.
Can I host TallyPrime on my own AWS or Azure account?
Yes. Tally's licensing guidance allows you to host your own licence on AWS, Azure or a private cloud for your own business use. You then run Windows Server, Remote Desktop licensing, security patches, backups and monitoring yourself. Remote users still count as Tally Virtual Users, with 1 included in Silver and 10 in Gold, and the licence must never be shared with another business.
How do Remote Desktop licences work on AWS?
Microsoft requires a Remote Desktop licence for each person who connects to a hosted Windows session. On AWS, the usual route is a licence-included Windows Server instance plus per-user RDS SAL subscriptions through AWS License Manager, billed monthly with no proration and linked to an Active Directory. Service providers reportedly cannot use their own SPLA licences on AWS, Azure, Google Cloud or Alibaba since 1 October 2025.
Can I run TallyPrime on Azure or Google Cloud?
Yes, on a Windows Server virtual machine, exactly as on AWS. Azure has four India regions, including India South Central in Hyderabad, which Microsoft opened on 6 August 2026, and Google Cloud has regions in Mumbai and Delhi. The work is the same on every cloud: Windows, Remote Desktop licences, a secure gateway, patches and backups. Tally's own hosted service runs on Oracle Cloud instead.
Which AWS region should I use for TallyPrime?
Use an Indian region: Asia Pacific (Mumbai), ap-south-1, or Asia Pacific (Hyderabad), ap-south-2, which you must enable on your account first. Tally says a licence must be used mainly, at least 75 percent, in the geography it was bought for, and companies must keep daily backups of electronic books on servers in India, so keep snapshots and backup copies in India too.
Is a managed host cheaper than running Tally on AWS myself?
It can be, once you count your time. A DIY AWS bill covers the server, storage and Remote Desktop licences, but someone still patches Windows, checks backups, adds users and fixes login problems every month. A managed host such as TallyoCloud folds that work into its per-user price. If your team only uses Windows, Linux or a Mac browser, Tally's own Cloud Access is usually the smallest bill.
