An always-on server
No office PC to leave switched on overnight. Our uptime target is 99.9%, set out in our SLA.
Your licensed TallyPrime runs on a private Windows server in Mumbai, and every habit from the office PC comes with it: your printer, your Excel exports, your TDLs, connected GST and the whole team on one company. What goes away is the PC itself, along with the forgotten backups and the "which copy is latest?" problem.
The main Tally on Cloud features are the full Windows TallyPrime 7.1 on a private server, several users in one live company, printing to your Windows or Mac printer, Excel and PDF exports saved to your device, TDLs and vetted add-ons, connected GST with your TSS, daily backups in India and two-factor login from any device.
This is what TallyoCloud's Tally on Cloud service looks like day to day. Each tile is a labelled sample; the sections below explain how every feature works and where its limits are. New to the idea? Read what Tally on Cloud is first.

Daily automated backups, kept with 30-day retention. How backups work
Add a one-time code to every user's sign-in, so a leaked password alone can't open your books.
On Windows and Mac, the printer next to you shows up inside TallyPrime. Press Ctrl+P and the invoice comes out of your own printer. Printing details
Head office and branch post into the same company at the same moment. There's no export, import or month-end merge. Multi-user details
Exports skip the server and land in a folder on your own laptop. See the setting
Custom invoice formats and reports from your Tally partner keep working. TDLs and add-ons
e-Invoice, e-way bill, GST returns and Connected Banking, with your active TSS. What's needed
Tiles show labelled sample screens to explain each feature. They are not live data from any customer.
Nothing is cut down. We install the Windows edition of TallyPrime, so every report, voucher type, shortcut and Gateway of Tally menu is where your team expects it. As of October 2026 the latest release is TallyPrime 7.1, according to Tally's release notes, and that is what new servers get.
Updates follow your TSS. While your Tally Software Services subscription is active, we install new TallyPrime releases on your server after taking a backup, at a time that suits you, so nobody is halfway through a voucher. If TSS lapses, Tally says the software keeps working as before, but upgrades, connected services and remote-access features stop.
Need an audit trail? We can install the TallyPrime Edit Log release, where the edit log cannot be switched off. Still on Tally.ERP 9? Tally stopped ERP 9 TSS renewals on 16 August 2026, so our Tally data migration moves your companies to TallyPrime as part of setup.

In an office, sharing Tally means a Gold licence, one PC that holds the data and everyone on the same network. With TallyoCloud, each person gets their own Windows login on your private server and opens the same company data directly. The accountant at home, the billing clerk at the godown and you on a MacBook all see a voucher the moment it is saved. There is nothing to synchronise or merge.
Inside TallyPrime, give every user their own security level, so the billing clerk can raise invoices without opening the profit and loss account.
Remote use is licensed differently from office-network use. Tally calls it virtual usage and counts every TallyPrime instance opened over Remote Desktop as one Tally Virtual User (TVU). One person with two TallyPrime windows open uses two. And one licence serves one business: Tally's TVU FAQ calls users of different companies on one licence a violation, so each TallyoCloud server holds a single customer's licence and data together.
| Your licence | Remote users included | Need more? |
|---|---|---|
| TallyPrime Silver | 1 TVU | Upgrade to Gold (₹45,000 + GST from Tally) |
| TallyPrime Gold | 10 concurrent TVUs | TVU packs from Tally, ₹125/user/month + GST, billed annually |

Printing is usually the first thing people check on a hosted Tally, so here is exactly what to expect on each device.
When you connect from Windows or a Mac, Remote Desktop's printer redirection brings the printers attached to your computer into the server session. Your default printer becomes the default inside TallyPrime, and each one is listed with "(redirected)" after its name, as Microsoft's documentation describes. Press Ctrl+P on an invoice and it prints at your desk; Alt+P opens the full print menu. The server needs no printer driver, because Remote Desktop Easy Print uses the driver on your own computer.
Mac and special printers. On a Mac, Windows App prints through a generic driver rather than your printer's own driver. Ordinary laser and inkjet printers are fine. Dot-matrix printers and pre-printed stationery need a test, so we print a sample with you during the 7-day trial.
On a phone or tablet. Windows App doesn't redirect printers on iPhone, iPad, Android or Chromebook. Export the invoice as a PDF to the storage you shared with the app, or e-mail it to yourself with Ctrl+M, then print or share it from the device.
| Device | Connect with | Your local printer | Exports to device |
|---|---|---|---|
| Windows PC | Remote Desktop Connection (built in) | Yes | YesDrive redirection |
| Mac | Windows App (free) | YesGeneric driver | YesFolder redirection |
| iPhone & iPad | Windows App (iOS/iPadOS 26.0+) | NoPrint from a PDF | YesStorage redirection |
| Android & Chromebook | Windows App (Android 11+) | NoPrint from a PDF | YesStorage redirection |
| Linux | Remmina or FreeRDP | DependsClient settings | DependsShared folder |
Based on Microsoft's Windows App feature comparison and store listings, checked October 2026. Linux clients vary, so we test yours during the trial.
A file saved on the server is no use to you, so set TallyPrime to export straight to your laptop once and forget about it:
TallyPrime exports to Excel, PDF, JSON, XML, HTML, JPEG and plain text, per Tally's export help page. If you see "Unable to export Excel file", close that file on your computer and try again.
Excel on the server itself? Running Microsoft Office on a hosted Remote Desktop server needs separate Office hosting licences, so we quote it on request. Exporting to your own Excel costs nothing extra.
Alt+E › Configuration Folder path : \\tsclient\Downloads\Tally Format : Excel (.xlsx) Ctrl+E › Sales Register › Send ✓ SalesRegister.xlsx saved to your computer Ctrl+E › Balance Sheet › PDF ✓ BalanceSheet.pdf saved to your computer → Nothing left behind on the server
Sample settings. Folder names depend on what you share from your device.
Ctrl+M e-mails the voucher or report on screen, and Alt+M opens the Share menu. TallyPrime 7.1 added OAuth-based secure e-mail for Gmail and Microsoft accounts. Because the server sends the mail, it goes out even when you're working from a phone. It is also the quickest way to get a PDF onto your own iPhone or Android.
Ctrl+Alt+W sends the current voucher to your party through Tally's WhatsApp for Business. You sign up on Tally's Customer Portal, it needs an active TSS, and Tally charges for it separately (about ₹1,300 a year plus wallet recharges, per its customer hub). It is built for customers and suppliers, not for moving a file to your own phone.
This is the biggest practical difference between a private Windows server and a locked-down hosted app. Your customisations keep working.
Custom invoice formats, reports and validations from your Tally partner load exactly as on a PC. We copy the files to your server, add them under F1 › TDLs & AddOns (Ctrl+Alt+T), set them to load on startup and check them against your data before go-live.
Some add-ons ship as Windows programs or libraries, such as bank utilities, barcode tools and sync connectors. Because your server runs Windows Server, they can run once we have checked compatibility and the vendor's licence terms. Tally's Cloud Access FAQ says it doesn't support .exe or .dll add-ons.
TallyPrime can act as an XML/HTTP or ODBC server on a port such as 9000, which is how most connectors and dashboards read and post data (Tally's integration prerequisites). We run those connectors on the same private server, so that port never faces the internet. TallyPrime 7.0 also added JSON import and export.
What "vetted" means. Before we install a third-party add-on we confirm that its licence allows server or Remote Desktop use, that it works with TallyPrime 7.1, that it runs without giving users administrator rights, and that it doesn't open ports to the internet. Other Windows software on your server is covered on the Tally cloud server page.
These are TallyPrime's own connected services, so they behave exactly as they do on a desktop, with two conditions from Tally: your TSS must be active and the computer running TallyPrime needs internet. A cloud server meets the second all day, every day, including the night before a filing deadline.
Because the server never sleeps, Tally's scheduled jobs run on time as well. Tally's own help explains that a scheduled backup is missed when the computer was switched off, which is a common problem with office PCs.
Feature history from Tally's release-wise feature list.
TallyPrime supports Indian languages including Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Kannada and Tamil, and Tally's help centre notes that you can enter a transaction in one language and view or print it in another. With the 7.1 invoice print templates you can also add your logo, a watermark, custom fonts and colours.
On the cloud, those fonts live on the server, not on your laptop. We install the fonts your invoice templates use once, then print a sample invoice on your printer (or to PDF for phones) during the trial, so Devanagari or Gujarati text comes out the way it does today.
Daily automated backups run on every server and are kept with 30-day retention, on separate storage in India. Restoring a company to yesterday is a support request, not a crisis. You can also take your own backup whenever you like with Alt+Y › Backup & Restore, saved to a folder on your own computer, because your data stays yours. If you prefer, TallyPrime 7.0's Auto Backup to TallyDrive can run alongside ours with your TSS.
Tally cloud storage, in plain words: your live companies sit on your server's own disk, and the backup copies sit on separate storage in India. Nothing is synced to a consumer drive, and no other customer shares your server.
The Companies (Accounts) Rules, 2014, as amended on 5 August 2022, require a company that keeps its books electronically to keep the backup on servers physically located in India, on a daily basis (rule 3(5)). Rule 3(6) then asks the company to tell the Registrar every year, when it files its financial statements, the service provider's name, IP address and location and, where the books are kept on cloud, the address the provider gives (amendment summary, SCC Online).
These rules cover companies. Proprietorships and partnership firms aren't bound by them but should still back up daily, so check your own obligations with your CA. Full details are on our Tally on Cloud security page.
For company customers, for the annual filing with the Registrar.
Signed by TallyoCloud and issued on request each financial year.
Four layers protect your books. After that, any screen you own can open them.
Your licence and company data sit together on your own VM, as Tally's TVU rules require. No other customer's sessions run on it.
Connections arrive through a Remote Desktop Gateway over HTTPS on port 443. The usual RDP port, 3389, is never open to the internet.
A one-time code on top of the password, plus TallyPrime's own user and security levels inside each company.
Companies must use an audit trail that can't be disabled, a rule in force since 1 April 2023 (Tally on Edit Log). TallyVault adds encryption with a password only you hold.
Is Tally on Cloud safe? The full security breakdown
Every device connects the same way to the same server, so the books you see on your phone are the books your accountant is posting to. See the guides for Tally on Mac, Tally on mobile and the Remote Desktop apps we use.
TallyPrime has no macOS version. You don't need Boot Camp, Parallels or a second laptop. Install Microsoft's free Windows App from the Mac App Store and open our connection file. Tally opens in a window like any other Mac app.
Every Windows PC already includes Remote Desktop Connection. Double-click the shortcut we create for you and your office Tally opens on your desk, at home or on a laptop at a client's site.
Check outstanding payments before a meeting, approve a voucher from the car or show a client their ledger on an iPad. The same Windows App runs on iPhone and iPad.
Install Microsoft's free Remote Desktop client from Google Play and connect to your TallyPrime server. It works on budget phones and Android tablets too.
On Linux, use any standard RDP client, such as the open-source Remmina. On a Chromebook, install the Android Remote Desktop app from the Play Store. Low-cost laptops are fine because the cloud server does the heavy lifting.
TallyPrime Cloud Access is Tally Solutions' own hosted service. It does several things well, and the table says so.

¹ Per Tally Solutions' TallyPrime Cloud Access FAQ (updated 29 Sep 2026) and product page. Cloud Access is a good choice if you want Tally's own managed service at the lowest per-user price and work from Windows, Linux or a browser. Our pricing is on the pricing page.
With TallyoCloud, Tally on Cloud gives you the full Windows edition of TallyPrime 7.1 on a private server in India. Several users work on one live company, invoices print on your Windows or Mac printer, Excel and PDF exports save to your own device, and TDLs and vetted add-ons keep working. Connected GST and banking run with your TSS, two-factor login protects sign-ins, and backups run automatically.
Yes. TDL and TCP files load exactly as they do on a PC: we copy them to your server, set them to load when TallyPrime starts and check them against your data before go-live. Because your private server runs Windows Server, vetted third-party add-ons that ship as .exe or .dll files can also run, which Tally's own Cloud Access FAQ says it does not support.
Yes. e-Invoicing, e-way bills, connected GST returns and Connected Banking are TallyPrime's own connected features, so they work on our server just as on a PC, provided your TSS is active and you log in to the GST portal from TallyPrime. The server stays on with constant internet, so scheduled backups and connected services never wait for an office PC to be switched on.
Yes. In TallyPrime, press Alt+E, open Configuration and set the export folder to the drive or folder your Remote Desktop app shares from your computer. Ctrl+E then saves Excel or PDF files straight to your Mac or Windows laptop. On iPhone, iPad and Android, e-mail the PDF to yourself with Ctrl+M, or save it to the storage you shared with Windows App.
On Windows and Mac, yes. Remote Desktop redirects the printers on your computer into the session, so they appear in TallyPrime's print list with 'redirected' after the name. A Mac prints through a generic driver that suits most laser and inkjet printers; test dot-matrix printers and pre-printed stationery during your trial. Windows App does not redirect printers on iPhone, iPad or Android, so print from a PDF there.
As many as you have logins for and your TallyPrime licence allows. Tally counts every TallyPrime instance opened over Remote Desktop as one Tally Virtual User: Silver includes 1 and Gold includes 10 concurrent. Gold owners can buy more from Tally at about ₹125 per user per month, billed annually. Everyone works in the same live company, each with their own login and Tally security level.
Only with the right Microsoft licence. Running Office on a hosted Remote Desktop server needs separate Office hosting licences, so we quote it on request. Most customers don't need it, because TallyPrime exports Excel files straight to your own computer, where you open them in your own Excel. Tally's Cloud Access provides LibreOffice instead and, per its FAQ, does not support Microsoft Office.
Yes, for company customers. The Companies (Accounts) Rules require a company that keeps its books electronically to back them up daily on servers physically in India, and to tell the Registrar every year, with its financial statements, the service provider's name, IP address and location. We give each company customer a signed letter with these details and a daily-backup log for the auditor.
