Tally on Cloud, built around how your industry works

A CA office, a distributor with three godowns and a factory with a city accounts office all use TallyPrime differently. Each gets its own private Windows server in India running its own licence, set up around who logs in, from where, and which records matter at audit time.

  • Your existing TallyPrime licence
  • Daily automated backups in India
  • Mac, phone and PC access
  • Starting from ₹799/month
Quick answer

Tally on Cloud works the same way in every industry: your licensed TallyPrime runs on a private Windows server in India, and your team opens it from a PC, Mac or phone. What changes by trade is the setup: how many users, which godowns or branches, which compliance records, and which devices and printers.

What do you need?

Three questions, one clear route

Answer for your business and we'll point you to the right guide, the plan size and licence that usually fit, and a demo slot if you'd rather talk it through.

1What does your business do?
2How many people use Tally at the same time?
3What do you need most?

Nothing is sent anywhere until you choose to open WhatsApp or book a demo.

Same TallyPrime, different setup

What changes by industry

The software is identical: the full Windows TallyPrime with your shortcuts, TDLs and reports. What we plan differently is who logs in, from where, on which device, and what to test before you move.

In every setup

What every business gets, whatever the trade

Industry changes the plan size and the details, not the foundations.

A private server, not a shared seat

Your company data and your TallyPrime licence sit together on your own Windows server, which is how Tally's licensing expects it. Other customers never share your machine, and each user gets access only to the companies you allow.

About our Tally cloud servers

Daily backups in India

Daily automated backups with 30-day retention, stored away from your server in a secure data centre in India.

Printing where you work

Invoices print on your own printer from Windows and Mac. On iPhone and Android, export a PDF instead.

Printing guide

Owner access on mobile

Check outstanding, stock or a balance sheet in full TallyPrime through Microsoft's free Windows App.

Tally on mobile

Locked-down access

Two-factor login through an encrypted gateway, firewalls and per-user company permissions.

How we secure data

Free migration of every company

We move your companies, users and licence from the office PC, including old Tally.ERP 9 data. Tally stopped ERP 9 TSS renewals on 16 August 2026, so this is a good moment to upgrade.

Three rules that shape where your books live

Each rule below applies to some businesses, not all. We give the date it began and the source, then what it means on our servers.

Companies · since 5 Aug 2022

Daily backups on servers in India

Rule 3(5) of the Companies (Accounts) Rules, 2014, as amended by G.S.R. 624(E), requires a company that keeps its books electronically to back them up daily on servers physically in India. Rule 3(6) asks it to tell the Registrar each year, with its financial statements, the provider's name, IP address and location.

On our servers: backups stay in India, and company customers can ask us for the provider details they need to file.

GST · since 1 Aug 2023

e-Invoicing above ₹5 crore

CBIC Notification 10/2023–Central Tax made e-invoicing compulsory for registered businesses whose aggregate turnover exceeded ₹5 crore in any financial year from 2017-18; a few sectors, such as banks and SEZ units, are exempt. From 1 April 2025, businesses with turnover of ₹10 crore or more must report each invoice to the IRP within 30 days.

On our servers: TallyPrime's e-invoice and e-way bill features work as on a PC, with an active TSS, on a server that stays online.

An audit trail that can't be switched off

Companies that keep books in accounting software must use one that records an edit log of every change, with no option to disable it. Tally's Edit Log FAQ says the TallyPrime Edit Log release was built for this requirement and cannot be disabled.

On our servers: we install the TallyPrime release your company needs, including the Edit Log release, and keep it updated with your TSS.

What we leave out, and why. Some articles say Income-tax Rule 46(8) of the 2026 Rules also requires daily backups on Indian servers; others say the notified text has no such clause. Until we have the gazette text and a chartered accountant's opinion, we don't present it as law. Our editorial policy explains how we handle disputed rules. This snapshot is general information checked on 6 October 2026, not legal advice; ask your CA about your own business.

15-minute demo

Not sure? Talk to someone who knows your trade

A short screen-share answers most questions faster than any page. You share nothing about your business: we use sample data.

  1. Tell us your trade, how many people use Tally and how many locations you have.
  2. Watch a sample company with vouchers and reports typical of your trade, opened on the device you choose.
  3. Hear which licence and how many Tally Virtual Users you need, explained in our TVU guide.
  4. Get a written quote on WhatsApp, then start the free 7-day trial if it fits.

FAQ

Questions about Tally on Cloud by industry

Is Tally on Cloud suitable for small businesses?

Yes. A proprietor who works alone needs only a one-user private server and a TallyPrime Silver licence, which includes one Tally Virtual User. Teams of two to nine people usually run TallyPrime Gold, which includes up to ten. Small businesses gain the most from not owning a server: Daily automated backups stay in India, updates are handled for you, and a person answers when something goes wrong.

Do you customise Tally for my industry?

We host the TallyPrime setup you already use, including TDL customisations from your Tally partner or developer, and we check that they work during migration and the free trial. For new industry-specific reports, such as a Schedule H1 register or a project-wise cost report, work with your Tally partner or a TDL developer. We then deploy and test that TDL on your server.

Can I get a demo specific to my industry?

Yes. Book a 15-minute screen-share and tell us your trade, how many people use Tally and how many locations you have. We open a sample company with vouchers and reports typical of that trade, on the device you choose, explain which licence and how many virtual users you need, and send a written quote on WhatsApp.

Which TallyPrime licence does my business need on the cloud?

Tally counts every Remote Desktop session as a Tally Virtual User. A Silver licence includes one, so it suits one person. A Gold licence includes up to ten concurrent users. Beyond ten, Tally sells extra virtual-user packs at ₹125 per user per month plus tax, billed annually. One licence serves one business; Tally treats sharing it across different businesses as misuse.

My industry isn't listed. Can I still use Tally on Cloud?

Yes. Retailers, service firms, NGOs, schools, contractors and exporters run the same TallyPrime for Windows, so it works on our servers in the same way. The one honest exception is fast counter billing with cash drawers and receipt printers, which is often best left on a local PC while accounts, stock and GST move to the cloud. Take the three-question quiz or book a demo.
