Quick answer

The TallyoCloud Tally on Cloud free trial lasts 7 days and needs no card. After a short verification, you get a private Windows server in Mumbai with TallyPrime 7.1, activate Tally's official trial licence in your own name and test a copy of your books from Mac, iPad, Android or PC. Nothing is charged automatically.

No sign-up needed

See it running before you sign up

A Tally on Cloud session is simple. You open Microsoft's Windows App, click your server, and TallyPrime appears in a window. The software and your company data stay on the server; only keystrokes and screen updates travel over the internet.

That is why a MacBook Air, an iPad and an old office PC can all run the same TallyPrime. Microsoft measures active office-style Remote Desktop work, such as Word or Excel, at about 100–200 Kbps, far less than a video call.

  • A 15-minute live demo. We share our screen and show TallyPrime on a cloud server with sample data, on a Mac, iPad or PC, whichever you'll use.
  • Ask the awkward questions. Printing, function keys, licences, backups and what happens if your internet drops.
  • No form, no account. You don't share business details until you decide to start a trial.

Illustration of a Windows App session, not a screenshot or recording. Book the demo to see a real one.

How the trial works

Four steps from sign-up to your own books on the cloud

The trial is a private server, a licence in your name and a copy of your data. Nothing is shared with other customers, and your office never stops working.

Step 1

Sign up and verify

Enter your mobile number and e-mail. We send a one-time code by SMS from a DLT-registered template, or by e-mail if the SMS doesn't arrive. Then you confirm your business name, type of business, address and what you'll use the server for.

  • Why we ask: the CERT-In directions of 28 April 2022 require cloud and server providers to record validated customer details before handing over a server.
  • We log the sign-up IP address and time, and keep these records for five years, as the directions require.
  • No card, no bank details, no auto-debit mandate.
Step 2

Your private trial server

Once you're verified, we build a Windows server in Mumbai for you alone, with TallyPrime 7.1, the latest release, already installed. We aim to have it ready within one business day after verification and send login steps for each of your devices.

  • Nothing to install on your device except Microsoft's free Windows App, or Remote Desktop Connection, which Windows already includes.
  • Separate Windows logins for each person who will test.
  • Encrypted Remote Desktop sessions from day one.
Step 3

Activate a TallyPrime licence in your name

Request Tally Solutions' free TallyPrime trial in your company's name. Tally e-mails a serial number and activation key, which must be activated within 7 days of that e-mail. You type them in on the trial server while we guide you on a screen-share. Tally's own trial terms apply; if the trial licence can't be used over Remote Desktop in your case, a one-month rental is the fallback.

  • Need several users or more time? Buy a one-month rental from Tally or any Tally partner instead: Silver ₹750 or Gold ₹2,250 a month plus GST, at Tally's list prices.
  • Your office licence stays put. Nothing is surrendered during the trial. It moves to the cloud only on go-live day.
  • Remote sessions count as Tally Virtual Users. Our TVU guide explains the limits.
Step 4

Test with a copy of your data

On your office PC, take a backup in TallyPrime (Alt+Y Data › Backup & Restore › Backup, per Tally's help) and upload it through the encrypted link we send. We restore it on your trial server.

  • Your live books stay on your own PC, and your team keeps working as usual.
  • Entries made during the trial are test entries. At go-live we restore a fresh backup of your latest books.
  • Still on Tally.ERP 9? We migrate a copy to TallyPrime's data format for the trial. See how data migration works.
Pick your device

Connect from any device you own

TallyPrime installs only on Windows, so every device reaches your trial server through a free Remote Desktop client. Choose yours to see which app to install and the minimum version it needs.

  1. Install Windows App from the Mac App Store.
  2. Add your trial server with the details we send after verification.
  3. TallyPrime opens in its own window. No Parallels, no Boot Camp, no Windows licence on the Mac.

The Mac's Command key acts as the Windows key in a session, per Microsoft's keyboard guide, so test your usual shortcuts on day 1.

Your test plan

What to test in your 7 days

A trial only helps if you try the things that would make you switch, or stop you from switching. Here are the six checks that matter most, and what a good result looks like.

Voucher-entry speed

Post 10 to 15 real vouchers at your usual pace, then open a full-year Day Book. Try it from the office and from home.

Good sign: characters appear as fast as you type, and reports open without a long wait.

Function keys on a Mac

MacBook top-row keys control brightness and volume by default. Hold fn with F8 for a Sales voucher, or turn on standard function keys in System Settings › Keyboard.

Good sign: F4 to F9 open the right vouchers. More in our shortcut guide.

Invoice printing

Print a sales invoice on your own printer. Windows PCs pass local printers into the session; Macs use one generic driver, per Microsoft's feature table.

Good sign: the layout matches your office print, including thermal or dot-matrix models. See printing from Tally on Cloud.

Excel and PDF export

Export a ledger or outstandings report with Alt+E and save it to your own computer through the shared folder we set up. On phones and tablets, export a PDF.

Good sign: the file opens on your computer without e-mailing it to yourself.

GST reports and connected GST

Open GSTR-1 and GSTR-3B on your data copy and compare them with your office PC. Connected GST, e-invoice and e-way bill features need an active TSS on the licence in use.

Good sign: the figures match. Don't file real returns from a trial copy; we confirm the live connection on go-live day.

Two users at once

Ask a colleague to post vouchers in the same company while you run reports. This needs a licence with enough Tally Virtual Users, such as a Gold rental.

Good sign: both of you see each other's entries straight away. Planning a team? See multi-user Tally on Cloud.

Your trial week

When the trial ends, nothing is charged

There is no card on file, so there is nothing to charge and nothing to cancel. Here's what happens, and when.

  1. Sign-up

    Verify and set up

One-time code, business details, then we build your private server.

  2. Day 1

    Welcome reminder

Your trial end date in writing, login steps for your devices and the test plan above.

  3. Day 3

    Halfway check-in

What works, what doesn't. We help with printing, shortcuts or a second user.

  4. Day 6

    Final reminder

Your trial is about to end, and nothing will be charged. Tell us if you want to continue.

  5. Day 7

    Trial ends

Access to the trial server stops. No invoice, no charge, no auto-renewal.

  6. After

    Your choice

Go live on a paid plan, or we delete the trial copy after a short download window.

If you continue

  • Pick a plan: single-user or multi-user, both at ₹799 per user per month plus GST, billed monthly. See plans and prices.
  • On go-live day we restore a fresh backup of your latest books, so nothing entered at the office is lost.
  • You move your production licence on a screen-share: surrender it on the office PC and reactivate it on the server, using Tally's documented steps. You type your own Tally.NET details.

If you stop

  • Do nothing, or tell us on WhatsApp. There's no cancellation form and no exit call.
  • We switch the server off, keep the trial copy only for the download window stated in your trial-end message, then delete it securely.
  • Verification records are the one exception: CERT-In requires us to keep them for five years. Our privacy policy explains how they're protected.

Why no card? India's Guidelines for Prevention and Regulation of Dark Patterns, 2023 list demanding payment details for a free trial as a "subscription trap" and silent trial-to-paid conversion as "SaaS billing" (Trilegal summary). We'd rather earn the subscription. Paid plans follow our terms and refund policy.

FAQ

Tally on Cloud free trial questions

Is Tally on Cloud free?

Tally on Cloud is a paid hosting service, but you can try it free for 7 days without a card. You get a private trial server in India with TallyPrime 7.1 installed and test it with a copy of your own books. Nothing is charged when the trial ends. If you decide to continue, it costs ₹799 per user per month plus GST, billed monthly.

Which TallyPrime licence does the trial use?

Tally Solutions' own free trial licence, requested in your company's name on Tally's website. Tally e-mails a serial number and activation key, which must be activated within 7 days. If you want several users or more time, a one-month rental licence works too. Your office keeps working on its existing licence all week, and your production licence moves to the cloud only on go-live day.

Why do you ask for business details before the trial?

India's CERT-In directions of April 2022 require cloud and server providers to record validated customer names, addresses, contact numbers, ownership type and purpose, plus the sign-up IP address and time, and to keep them for five years. So we verify these before any server is created. We collect only what those rules need, and we never ask for card or bank details.

Why don't you ask for a card?

India's Guidelines for Prevention and Regulation of Dark Patterns, 2023 describe asking for payment details to start a free trial as a 'subscription trap', and quietly converting a trial to paid as 'SaaS billing'. We do neither. With no card on file there is nothing to charge, and we remind you on day 1, day 3 and day 6, so you can decide calmly.

What happens to my data after the trial?

If you subscribe, the trial server simply continues: we restore a fresh backup of your latest books and your production licence moves on go-live day. If you don't, we switch the server off, keep the trial copy only for the short download window stated in your trial-end message, then delete it securely. Your original books never leave your own PC during the trial.

Can I see a demo before signing up?

Yes. Message us on WhatsApp or call +91 97168 56953 and we'll run a 15-minute live screen-share of TallyPrime on a cloud server, using sample data. You don't need to sign up, install anything or share business details for a demo. It's the quickest way to see how a Remote Desktop session looks on a Mac, iPad or Android phone before you start a trial.

Which devices can I use during the trial?

A Mac on macOS 14 or later, an iPhone or iPad on iOS or iPadOS 26.0 or later, an Android device on version 11 or later, or a Chromebook that runs Play Store apps, all with Microsoft's free Windows App. Windows PCs use the built-in Remote Desktop Connection, and Linux uses an RDP client such as Remmina. Nothing else needs installing on your device.

Can two people test at the same time?

Yes, if the licence in use allows it. On a cloud server every remote TallyPrime session counts as a Tally Virtual User: Silver includes one and Gold includes up to 10 concurrent users, according to Tally's TVU FAQ. For a multi-user test, a one-month Gold rental is usually the simplest route. Tell us at sign-up and we'll create a separate login for each person.
